Broadcast Monitoring and Compliance Logging Solutions @ NAB SHOW 2016
VoiceInteraction will participate, once again as an exhibitor, in the NABSHOW in Las Vegas, NV U.S., April 18-21, 2016, showcasing its latest solutions for the Broadcasting, Media and Entertainment Industries at booth SU1621 (South Hall Upper 1621, Brazil’s Pavilion).
Compliance Logging and Broadcast Monitoring Solutions
Broadcasters are required to retain copies of their broadcasts for some period of time to provide evidence of compliance with legal (and other) obligations. Before digital technology has revolutionized the way we communicate, work, buy, sell and spend our time, compliance logging was carried out through long-play video-cassette decks. As the number of free-to-air and subscription broadcaster channels increased, such an approach fast proved unreliable and unpractical. Digital compliance logging and broadcast monitoring solutions came up into the market to address this challenge providing, at the same time, enhanced logging features, such as audio and video descriptions that allow for content indexation at multiple levels of granularity. For example, through image processing tools, it is possible to automatically detect scene transitions; through the use of acoustic analysis tools, we can locate specific ads within the channels programming; or, even, voice recognition technology can recognize and produce time stamps for every word uttered in a given programme, making it possible for a user of a broadcast monitoring solution to locate all occurrences of a certain entity within the channels recordings.
Media Monitoring System – Broadcast Edition
VoiceInteraction – Speech Processing Technologies, S.A. pioneered the use of speaker-independent voice recognition technology in real-time, live closed captioning of broadcast contents. Its proprietary speech transcription technology — capable of transcribing speech from anyone speaking one of the supported languages, performing faster than real-time (i.e. transcribing contents in less than playback time) and with an impressive level of accuracy — also allowed VoiceInteraction to emerge in the market with one of the best-performing, and yet affordable, solutions for reliable compliance recording and broadcast monitoring: Media Monitoring System — Broadcast Edition (MMS).
MMS is a fully-automatic, integrated solution for video recording, storage and retrieval, comprising real-time tools for automatic transcription, segmentation and topic indexing of broadcast (and webcast) contents. The system is installed at the client’s premises and records multiple TV channels and radio stations (according to client needs and specifications) and stores that information for long periods of time (defined in accordance with the storage capacity of the client). Simultaneously, it processes the information — through proprietary technologies of speech transcription, speaker turn detection, semantically-homogeneous content segmentation and ads detection — associated with each one of the monitored channels (online or offline, the client chooses which approach fits best its needs and processing capacity).
The Broadcast Edition of MMS incorporates a set of additional features especially created to accommodate the broadcasters’ information visualization and recording needs:
- broadcast contents synchronized with the broadcaster’s clock (a time/date overlay is added to the video as it is recorded);
- frame-by-frame browsing facilities;
- computation and display of loudness history graphs;
- display of time-synchronized TV ratings tracking measurements (based on user-supplied data)
What to expect from us at the NAB SHOW 2016
This year’s event will be used for the global launch of its screenplay time-coding solution, built to allow Media & Entertainment professionals to go a step further in automating the building of post-production scripts. Apart from that, VoiceInteraction will showcase its Media Monitoring System, with special emphasis on the Broadcast Edition of it, devoted to accommodate the specific needs of TV broadcasters and Government departments (regulatory agencies). It will also, and certainly, be worthwhile attending our demos of the latest version of AUDIMUS.MEDIA — a fully automatic closed captioning system that, besides transcribing the spoken utterances, segments them according to the speaker holding the turn — building on the integration of deep-learning techniques in our speech processing technologies to optimize the performance of acoustic models derived from the ever-growing speech repositories.
In addition to watching the demos available at our booth, our visitors will have the opportunity to gain some insight into a broader range of proven speech processing solutions, such as Speech Transcription Systems for court, medical, parliament and council proceedings, TTS and ASR Engines for IVRs and Speech Analytics in Call Centres, and Embodied Conversational Agents for multi-modal applications. We are looking forward to receiving your visit at our booth SU1621 (South Hall Upper 1621, Brazil’s Pavilion). If you wish to schedule a meeting during the event for more thorough discussions with Prof. João Neto, CEO of VoiceInteraction, please, send us a Meeting Request to the email nabshow2016@voiceinteraction.tv
